Oval Face Shape

This is the most common of all face shapes. The oval face is slightly longer than it is wide and, as such, they are fortunate enough suit almost all hat styles. With no major pitfalls to avoid you just need to go for it!

Round Face Shape

The goal with a round face is to elongate it slightly to make it look more oval. To do this, choose taller hats with a high crown which will add height. Hats with angles and hats with vertical features, such as feathers or quills, work particularly well.

Heart Shaped Face

The heart shaped face is widest at the cheeks and eye area and narrows down toward the chin. The best hat styles for this face should have a medium-to-narrow brim width. Wider brims may emphasize your forehead slightly and should be avoided.

Square Face Shape

Square faces are characterized by strong jaw lines, so the aim here is to soften features and to elongate the face. Make sure that you wear your piece at a complementing angle to avoid a ‘square on square’ look.

Oblong Face Shape

The focus here is to shorten the face by choosing a piece with a low crown or a slightly more compact piece, which is worn low across the forehead. Avoid tall pieces, like the popular ‘percher’ style hat or hats with small brims, which will have the opposite effect making your face look longer.
